Top 10 Ways To Miss A Wild Turkey With A Shotgun
If you've never missed a wild turkey with a shotgun, either you're a liar or you haven't been hunting them long.
It seems impossible to miss a big tom with gun in hand, but it happens . . . and here are the top 10 reasons why.
1. Too Close
Tight chokes and tiny targets don't mix inside 12 yards.
2. Too Far
45 yards should be your maximum, regardless of gear.
3. Running
Don't waste your ammo on terrified toms.
4. Flying
Seriously, who do you think you are, Annie Oakley?
5. Feeding
A moving turkey head/neck is a recipe for disaster.

Comment by Matthew Puma on May 25, 2009 at 11:15pm: Had no luck with the turkeys this year. They just weren't moving. But what was really cool is that when we and my step son were walking out to our stand the first morning, we seen momma bear and her two cubs cross the field just 60 yards away. I feel she knew we were there but she didn't feel that we were a threat and just continued to trot away with her cubs following. It seems that the number of black bears are growing especially in our area where up until recent years haven't been seen in around for the past 15 to 20 years. Maybe I'll be able to get a tag in the near future?
